welcome!

Welcome to Church of the Advent, a diverse and growing Anglican community ranging from skeptics and seekers to longtime followers of Jesus. We recognize that truth is often more complicated than it seems, that there are questions we cannot answer, and that doubt is a part of faith. And yet, we are compelled by Jesus Christ and believe he offers an unparalleled hope to our world. We see the church not as a building or a social club but as a growing family meant to embody all that God is doing in the world.

We invite you to join us for our Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m., either in person or online via our livestream. If you have any questions, please email us at admin@adventdc.org.

Most Sundays from September-May, Adult Sunday School and 4th-9th grade Sunday School begins at 9:00. What Can I Expect?

We believe our worship is not so much about our entertainment, but God's glory, and the formation of our desires and imaginations through the gospel. Through the liturgy and sacraments, we embody the great story of God's mission to rescue and restore His world. While our service is rooted in ancient Christian liturgy, we believe that liturgy should be as accessible as it is transcendent. Whether you are new to church or a longtime Christian, you’ll find others just like you engaging in a form of worship that is participatory, joyful, and reverent.

In our service, we sing both classic and contemporary hymns accompanied by different musicians who are part of our community. We pray for our city, our church, and the world. We read portions of Scripture and hear a sermon that relates God’s Word to our life. And each week our service culminates in the Eucharist, a celebratory feast open to all baptized Christians to celebrate our communion with God and one another.
