All women connected to Advent are invited to join us for a monthly brunch on the second Saturday of each month. The next brunch will be Saturday, September 12th at 11am at the Newton Street house. September 13th is the day when we will induct all new members and formally welcome members of the Church of the Resurrection who are transferring their memberships to Advent. This will be a day of celebration and feasting. If you are interested in becoming a member, start by attending a Newcomers’ Dinner.
We will be having another Advent 20/20 meeting Sunday, August 23rd directly following the service. We will meet for exactly one hour to discuss the current and future happenings in the life of our church.
Join us for a multi-church gathering to hear two international updates from Europe and Rwanda. The Rev. Christian Hofreiter, who served on the pastoral team at Resurrection 2005-07, will give an update on his Oxford studies and opportunities for ministry in Austria. Tommy and Laura will report on their recent visit to our sister congregation in Nyagatare, Rwanda, as well as the premier of As We Forgive in Rwanda.

Brian and Davy are hosting a cookout at the La Casa Homeless shelter next Tuesday, July 7th at 7:15pm. They could use some help providing food, drinks and interacting with the men at the shelter. If you are interested in helping and/or attending please contact Davy at david dot crumplar at gmail dot com.
During the summer months we are going to be picnicing in Meridian Hill (Malcolm X) Park instead of the potluck. This is a great way to interact with the community and enjoy being outside. Be sure to bring food to share.
